Evans Cycles set to open ‘UK’s largest bike shop’ in Manchester – Business
Evans Cycles will open a new store in Cheetham Hill, Manchester on Friday February 25 – which will be the “largest cycle store in the UK”.
Covering 17,554 square feet, the store will stock more than 400 bikes spanning road, mountain, hybrid, electric and kids’ bikes, from brands including Specialized, Cannondale, Trek, Brompton, Hoy and Raleigh. Clothing and accessories will be available from brands such as Endura, Giro, Kalas and Shimano. The store will also serve the local community with a fully equipped workshop.
On Saturday, February 26, Evans Cycles will hold an in-store launch event, featuring six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy, from 1-4 p.m. The first 100 visitors to meet Hoy will also receive an autographed copy of his bestselling book “How to Ride a Bike”.
In-store, customers will also be able to get their hands on a range of exclusive offers. These include an opening day offer, which will see all bikes in store discounted by 10%. Entrants also have the chance to book a free Bronze bike service from the store’s fully-equipped Shimano service centre, as well as the chance to win a Brompton Electric worth over £2,800.
“The past few years have been extremely difficult for so many people across the country, but one of the upsides has been the rise of families turning to two wheels,” Hoy said. “As a key retailer for Hoy bikes, I understand the knowledge and expertise imparted by physical bike shops like Evans Cycles.
“Access to stores like this plays an important role in nurturing the next generation of cyclists, and I look forward to meeting some of them on Saturday!”
Matthew Atkinson, Head of Cycling Strategy at Evans Cycles, added: “We are delighted to announce the opening of the UK’s largest cycle store at our new store in Cheetham Hill. Manchester is a very important place for us and this will be our third store in the city.
“With over 400 bikes on display, the new store is equipped with a Tri UK area showcasing time trial bikes as well as swimming and racing areas, a dedicated e-bike area, an assembly studio for BikeFitting.com, as well as a dedicated co-worker training center where all full-time co-workers will be trained to Shimano Service Center standards.
“Over the past few years we have seen a huge spike in interest from new and returning cyclists and are responding to our customers’ requests for greater access to the world’s best cycling brands, high quality advice from expert staff and mechanical assistance via in-store workshops. We look forward to helping Manchester’s cycling community enjoy the ride.
